There are times when you may want to test specific software or a specific version of software. In my case, I wanted to play with MariaDB Server 10.3.6 Release Candidate and some of the new, upcoming features. I didn’t want to have a permanent installation of it on my laptop so I chose to put it in a Docker container that I can easily copy to another place or remove. These are the steps I had to take to get it done.

In February with the release of MariaDB ColumnStore 1.1.3, we introduced a new Apache Spark connector (Beta) that exports data from Spark into MariaDB ColumnStore. The Spark connector is available as part of our MariaDB AX analytics solution and complements our suite of rapid-paced data ingestion tools such as a Kafka data adapter and MaxScale CDC data adapter.

Lately, I’ve been asked how to restore a single database or even a single table out of a complete backup of MariaDB Server that was created with MariaDB Backup.
